The “first impression” of your home has irreplaceable value. Whether clients are seeking professional advice and the right way to proceed on their own for something smaller scale, or substantial home remodeling and expending, or a new constructed residence, the conversation begins with ideas exchange and sketching while talking.
New Facades & Interiors Remake a Southern California Home
In the project at right, Sharkov Design Studio was presented with the challenge to convert a rather “faceless” house on a million dollar property into a home that better suits the property owner’s personality. Elizabeth and her associates gave the home, inside and outside, a new, distinctive face.
The sustainable green design philosophy and tools available to Sharkov Design Studio enable Elizabeth to help you make important choices regarding flexible uses, natural lighting and ventilation, and quality choices in long lasting materials. She will lead you through a smooth and successful design process with the Architect–Client–Builder-Environment relationship at its center.
The utmost goal is to achieve a healing environment that emphasizes human scale, comfort, and delight by finding solutions that do not compromise on aesthetics, whether it be your custom home, your office, or a recreational areas in your property back yard.

Elizabeth applies her long experience in the design industry, in both Europe and the United States, to develop a philosophy she calls “warm modernism.”
This approach blends deep experience in the usability of space with her timeless aesthetic sense. The result is an innovative approach to modern design that is the signature Sharkov Design Studio touch as shown in the comparison of before & after views of the fireplace (at left).
New Facades & Detailing Complement a Spanish Revival Home
Southern California is famous for its outdoor lifestyle. Your backyard is your playground for relaxation and recreational entertainment during warm summer nights and on weekends.
For this home, Sharkov Design Studio redesigned all existing facades to recreate the “Spanish Revival” style popular in Southern California. Custom ironwork for the driveway and entry gates adds an historic touch to the front of the property to enhance ‘curb appeal.’
In the rear, where Elizabeth has transformed the ordinary into the extraordinary, new facades create a casual and comfortable ambience for the rear of the property.

A New Backyard & Cabana Remake This Home as a Space for Living
The transformation of the environment is most evident at the rear of the house. The existing facade was entirely reworked and the backyard, dominated by a rectangular pool, is now completely redesigned in association with “Aquatic Pools.” The new Spanish styled facade and the free-form pool create an intimate environment that invites quality outdoor living.
The “Spanish Revival” theme from the house facades is carried over from the main residence to the new pool house (or Cabana) as well. Equipped with an outdoor BBQ, bar counter and sauna, it is the perfect accessory for seasonal entertaining.

Yet this multi-functional improvement goes a step further: it conceals a subterranean music studio (to accommodate the client’s interest in drums) by placing it entirely underground, below the Cabana, accessed by the discrete stairway (below left).
One priority for this musical space was not to disturb the neighbors. Careful insulation of walls and ceiling minimize any potentially disturbing noise. This cabana is not only attractive from the outside, it is functional on the inside too.
The value of your property depends on the quality of its grounds and their appeal. Whether it be a refreshing update to dated facades or a complete rethinking of how you enjoy your home, Sharkov Design Studio can create a total comfort zone to enhance your wellness and productivity.
